The Pleasures of Doukénie Winery

Doukénie Winery, a beautiful winery set on 12 acres of vineyards on a 500-acre farm in the Town of Hillsboro in the heart of Virginia’s Loudoun County Wine country offers everything wine lovers look for in their wine experience. Their award-winning wines are wonderful and is such a pleasurable tasting experience to the palate that gleeful audible expressions are often heard. Their Doukénie Dionysus is extraordinarily wonderful and our favorite and paired with the surprise Baklava treat from the lovely Hope Bazaco, Doukénie’s daughter, a joy.

Doukenie Winery

“Doukénie Dionysus 2009 $50 – Made from Block 1, the best Merlot vines on the property, this red wine dynamo was named after the Greek god of the grape harvest and for good reason. Expect a well-woven nose showing dramatic fruit from black currant to black cherry and cedar to cinnamon with plenty of fruit backing up the rich palate profile. Generous cherry and blackberry and earth-driven character garner the initial palate spotlight with silky tannins, solid acidity and a fresh finish rounding things out with elegance and persistence.”

The views and grounds at Doukénie are lovely from sunrise to sunset, for every occasion and event and whether you are visiting the tasting room, strolling the property, on the patio enjoying the views, or sitting by the lake, this will be a favorite for your Virginia winery-vineyard travels.

Visit Doukénie Winery to learn more about their wines, Wine Club, events and meet their owners and General Manager and Winemaker, Sebastien Marquet.
